East Baton Rouge Parish detectives arrested Girard Smith Friday after he shot his ex-wife in the neck during a domestic altercation.
Smith, 46, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery and simple battery, according to spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hick with the Sheriff's Office.
According to the police report, Smith kicked in the victim's front door Friday morning and confronted her about a man being at the home. Smith allegedly struck her and the other man on the head with the gun from behind, causing the firearm to discharge.
The victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.
